Jim's response to Sophie's "Creep" and "Breaking Mirrors."

These poems seem to reflect one’s self perception, and how that fits into the great status quo.

“I’m amazing

Because of all these things I can do

While crashing through mirrors.

Instead of sitting in front of them” (From “Breaking Mirrors”)

And

“I’m always standing around

Saying “what the hell am

I doing here?” like

I don’t belong

Here “ (From “Creep”)

Perhaps even a desire to change it.

“Waiting for something more

Colorful to show through my skin.

The ways I crash through every mirror

Is the most incredible part about me” (From “Breaking Mirrors”)

And

I don’ want to be inappropriate; maybe

Inappropriate is what makes

Me sick most of all –

Spent too much time

Editing whispers to

Silent screams

Of “sorry.”

Poetry is generally a little confusing to me, but these seem to be an interesting take on something that we all experience, which is, “How we fit in, and what is expected.

I liked them both.
