Jim's response to "Torn Apart"

I am not very good with poetry, and I somehow feel that “Torn Apart’ is saying something that I am not feeling. That perhaps it is alluding to something that I am not getting. She seems to be waking up from a nightmare, but it is still dark and rainy. There may be a lot of symbolism here. It reminds me of a long sleepless night of drizzling rain.

“The rain falls,

A drop of pure water hits my cheek,

I’m drenched in my angel’s tears.”

Although near the end it gets brighter, and speaks to me of some kind of rebirth.

“Finally at peace,

And when my heart beats again,

The sun will shine one more time.”

Some noted author whose name I can’t remember was once quoted as saying that a good piece is one that leaves you wondering about it long after you have read it, and this one does that. I liked it, and I wish I could offer more.
